Grated Apple Cake: The Season’s Best Baking Ideas

Grated Apple Cake is one of my many apple cakes, but instead of being prepared like the classic apple cake, in this case, I’ve grated the apples (not like apple bread, but more like grated apple cake using a grater). The preparation of the grated apple cake is really simple; you just need to whisk the eggs well, and then you’re almost done. The ingredients are simple, and I’m quite sure you have them all at home.

Ingredients:

  • 150 g (1 1/4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 100 g (1/2 cup) sugar
  • 50 g (1/4 cup) butter
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 packet (about 16 g or 4 tsp) baking powder
  • 2 apples (peeled and in pieces/slices)
  • Sugar (for the surface)

How to prepare grated apple cake:

  1. Take two apples, peel them, remove the core, and grate them using a medium-hole grater.
  2. Put the whole eggs and sugar in a bowl.
  3. Whisk the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer until frothy and whitish.
  4. Add cinnamon, baking powder, and all-purpose flour.
  5. Stir with a spatula to combine all ingredients.
  6. Fold the grated apples into the cake batter.
  7. Grease and flour a 22 cm (9-inch) diameter baking tin, or use baking paper or a homemade cake mould.
  8. Pour in the grated apple cake batter and smooth the surface.
  9. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
  10. Bake the grated apple cake in a preheated fan oven at 170°C (340°F) for about 45 minutes, until the cake is cooked through, testing with a toothpick.
  11. Remove the grated apple cake from the oven and let it cool completely before removing it from the baking tin and slicing.

Enjoy!
